Painting of  the Balmoral

Ships, a common theme in my paintings, represent a bitter-sweet homecoming as the family is once again complete. However, the completeness is transient, ships set sail again.

This painting is about the final voyage we all make in the evening of our lives. The colours, despite the darkening, are vivid.

The lights of the pier and promenade shine brightly, as do the lights on the ship.

But it is evening, darkness is gathering and it is time to embark.
