Grongar Hill?

Painting by Stephen Brinkworth

50 x 40cm
SOLD

A painting of Grongar Hill in Carmarthenshire, West Wales

West Wales for holidays. Sometimes. If Dad was home in the summer. The last one with the family was 1977. It poured with rain. But boy, Wales is a beautiful country. I tried to capture the vivid greens that seem even greener when the sky is blue. This is a pretty conventional landscape but still within my aims of painting like I did as a child. The colours are saturated, bordering on improbable, and the trees are still lollipops on sticks.

The painting featured in the Unreliable Memories exhibition at the West Wharf Gallery in the summer of 2013 and sold at the "private view". Perhaps someone else has "unreliable memories" about West Wales weather.
